our home was built in 2005. Over the last year, when draw water for a bath, there is a mossy-green/brown sediment that settles at the bottom of the bath tub. So, I have not been taking baths. I have tried running the water for a while before I fill the tub but that does not seem to help. We have all copper pipes and two water heaters. we do not notice this anywhere else in the house but in the master bath. it is not rusty or black and the water is clear except for the sediment at the bottom.
Does the tub faucet drip at all? There could be a broken bibb screw in the tub faucet that is rusted. Could also be sediment in one or both of the water heaters, either in the heaters themselves or at the hot or cold ports at the top. It may only be showing up at the tub because of the large volume of water that comes out of it and no aerator to catch the sediment. How old are the heaters?
