Replacing Back Windows
I would like to replace the back windows of a brownstone and I have come to the realization that a triple pane glass fiberglass window will be the best choice. Anybody has any experience with any of the Canadian companies that offer this type of product? http://www.thermotechwindows.com/ http://www.inlinefiberglass.com/ http://www.fibertec.com/

I’ve been building a house upstate and looked at ThermoTech, FiberTec and Accurate-Dorwin. These three a generally considered to be the best of the Canadian high-performance fiberglass window mafia. In the end, I went with ThermoTech. They are great to deal with and Stephen Thwaites lives and breathes high performance windows. They will go so far as to coat your windows based on the exposure and orientation. One thing to be aware of, these are heavy windows. Other than that, they fit perfectly and they were very helpful in making a pretty complicated design work in a cost effective way. (You should note they’re website is thermotechfiberglass.com. I’m not sure if they are related to thermotechwindows.com, but Stephen is the guy you want to talk to. They are very Canadian, meaning they’re friendly and helpful.) You can see the windows I installed at areteindus.com under the projects section, and the project is the “oc barn”. Good luck.
I’m thinking that while double may do as well, or just about as well, for insulation, that triple may be better for blocking noise from outside – is that so?
Im curious about how the process works…if, for example, you select fibertec windows and get a quote, do they have installers or do you go to a local firm who will install them?
Inline 300 series looks quite good!
Triple glazed is over the top, unless you have adressed all other leaking issues in your house, like replacing doors and insulating floors.
A double glazed with good insulated PVC or Wood frame is doing a great job, and I mean by high standards.
I collected some links a while ago. These manufacturers might be also interesting for you to look at:
