I have a 300 sq foot dirt area that I am looking to turn into a patio. I’d like to lay bluestone in the area and will need some type of drainage system. Any recommendations for someone who can do this type of work? Also, any ideas how much this job should run? First quote I got was about $9k which seemed very high.

  1. Yes, the area requires haluing the materials through the condo to get to the patio area. The estimate I received included compacting, installing drainage, base layer, morter, etc. Thanks for the recommendations.

  2. Its better compact the soil, lay about 2 inces of grabble and minimum 1 or more inch sand for blue stone.Depends on the job site access and pattern of blue stone it may resonable or higher. We have done some blue stone backyard in west village nyc and bedsty brooklyn. You may call us to get an estimate.Reffarence available.

  3. Done properly, yes, it could cost that much. Can you expand on what they were going to do for you? How easy it is to access the site? It’s a lot if they are can walk directly into the back yard and plop down some blue stone and call it a day. But, if the are going to excavate, compact the soil, lay gravel and sand, etc. it seems reasonable.
