Oil Cost
We’re thinking of signing up with the NYPIRG Fuel Buyer’s Group. Any good/bad feedback? What was the fixed price per gallon this year? Anyone have a vendor who has decent prices for #2 oil? Thanks.

You should really consider converting to gas. Heating oil and natural gas used to move together. Now no. Not at all. Natural gas is abundant, very cheap and getting cheaper. Heating oil is a product refined from crude oil, which is going through the roof. Crude will go up and down, but the supply of natural gas will be very abundant for the foreseeable future. If for some reason, you don’t want to convert, call Petro. They have many plans but you are not going to get anything cheaper than market rates, the deal you get depends on what you think the future of prices will be.
NYSERDA Survey for NYC as of 2/28 – $3.97 / gallon
We used them for 10+ years and were satisfied. We converted to gas about 6 years ago so so I can’t tell you about any recent dealings. As argentina said they used a local oil company for delivery and service and that worked ok. We always paid less than our friends who dealt directly with an oil company. I would recommend them.
It’s okay; I went through them for a couple of years. THey basically set you up with a supplier in Brooklyn who has to give you the agreed upon price. They work with particular vendors.
Recently I got a cap with Slomins for $2.89 and this wasn’t through NYPRG.I am converting to gas…this is insane .
I was curious to see if you get any response from people who used the nypirg fbg. Looks almost too good to be true. The website shows
New York City

My last bill was @ 3.599 / gal – of course it has been going up dramatically of late what with the turmoil in the middle east.
We used nypirg for 10+ years but have since converted to gas about 6 years ago. We had good results during the time we dealt with them. At that time they used a local oil company for delivery and service. Their prices were always lower than others and we were often paying much less than our friends. Good luck but don’t forget to do your homework.
