I would get three different people, each specialists, not a general contractor. You will pay less and the work will be better.
What is the wall that needs to be stripped?
Also, what is wrong with the stairs? Our banisters have come out of their pockets because of settling, and according to two stair experts, the only way to fix it is to replace the entire staircase.
