New week, new project. Need handy-man(?) or company that will scrap and paint fire escapes in 3-family house. Neat and reliable – anyone out there? Barbjean

  1. I just used John, overall he did an ok job, I had to call him back after he said that he was done three times. 2 stair treads were broken and he said they were welded but my 120 pounds was enough to re-break. paint was on my patio and building which he cleaned up after I called him. I found one railing still not bolted that I hadn’t noticed before. this is still not fixed and I can’t be bothered to have him come back again. He blamed my issues on the fact that he had to use a sub because I wanted insurance (didn’t want someone falling and not having insurance).

  2. M.Hamid Construction Co painted corner building of Dalancy and Eldrige in manhattan.Scrapped, prime and painted nice job.Call at 718-633-1500

  3. High-Tech is currently doing a fireescape/renovations down in carroll street in Brooklyn NY. I have used them before and they are reliable and affordable. You can call them at 1347-792-1266.

  4. Give John Daidone a call- I found him through my paint shop after getting estimates of $2-$3500 from a few of the bigger contractors mentioned on this board for fire escape work.

He came in at around $1300 for a 3-story fire escape on a 30′ wide building and offered lots of extras included(touched up ironwork on window bars and fence/railings). I know you’re supposed to avoid the low bid, but I gave him a shot and he did a great job– even gladly came back days later to touch up a spot which I thought needed a second coat.

I was totally happy with his work and his guys- definitely at least get an estimate from him. He does interior work too and I’m getting a bid from him for another job.

John Daidone 347-279-8083– oh and please tell him Andy from 11 St recc’d him to you!
