Has anyone put a pool into the back yard of a rowhouse? Maybe 1/2 in ground, with decking around it? Love to see pix and hear details about what it would take. Like this:

Arkady's Garden w/ Pool

Thanks

  1. I hired casual labor to dig the hole & worked w/ a handyman to build the box. Pool is 4′ deep (all it can be legally), 8′ wide & 12′ long ( think.) I kept it in dimensions of the marine ply. I hired an electrician to run the power but I connect/disconnect it each year. Ditto gas. Hired someone to build the deck to my specs. I don’t recall how long the whole project took but remember I had to wait until the box was finished before I could measure for the liner. Don’t know if you can see that I have a seat in each corner – for cocktail hour – so liner had to be accurate.

  2. Arkady – what a great pool. I’m in. Do you have any other pictures? Also, please tell me – did you do the work yourself? How long did it take? How wide is your yard, and how long is the pool? Did you have to excavate? Any permitting or neighbor issues? 17 years is a long time, but any additional info would be great.

    Thanks, John

  3. Snappy, I wonder if your photo titled, “BedStuy Beauties6” has been featured on brownstoner. Seems as if it ought to be; as well as the one called “BHS”.

  4. I do “laps” that are pretty good exercise & liability isn’t a big deal – just extra on HH insurance which I’d have anyway. All worth it for the joy of a cool dip after a hot, steamy NY summer day.
