Thermo Couplers
Any one out there have any idea why my Thermo Couplers keep clogging on me and need replacing? We have two on our huge gas boiler for a 4 story multi family apt blg.

What kind of boilers (make, model)? If the flame is too hot, they can burn out quickly.
i used to go through this every year or two! fairly new boilers too. basically considered it a consumable and entered into annual heating contract, they failed like clockwork though.
make sure that they are positioned properly in the pilot assembly..you might want to replace the pilot assemblies if there are signs of corrosion on them, which, of course would indicate other problems such as leaks from the boiler…
There are also crappy and good thermocouples. The difference is in the alloy and construction. Honeywell and White Rogers make the best ones we tend to see.
Do you mean thermocouple? Pilot light keeps going out?
I don’t think you understand how they work… No clogging possible. Basically a flexible metal wire/probe made of two different metals that when heated creates a small electrical charge that activates a magnet and opens the gas valve.
Possible failure poor installation… end of probe misplaced so as it is too cold or too hot. The later case fusing the metals. Some people believe the combustion of chemicals, bleach/detergents, petrochemicals by the boiler flame causes failure.
