Looking for a GC for bathroom redo.
I just moved into a co-op in Boerum Hill, and I was hoping to redo the very small (5×7) bathroom (it’s been essentially unchanged since the 60s). I was hoping Brownstoners could recommend someone who could knock back a non-load bearing wall a few inches to accomodate a standard-sized tub, and replace (but not move)…
I just moved into a co-op in Boerum Hill, and I was hoping to redo the very small (5×7) bathroom (it’s been essentially unchanged since the 60s). I was hoping Brownstoners could recommend someone who could knock back a non-load bearing wall a few inches to accomodate a standard-sized tub, and replace (but not move) the toilet and vanity. Also retiling. Anyone with positive experiences on similar projects?
We completed a full renovation of our bathroom and our contractor, Curtis Godoy, could not have been a better choice. We live in a pre-war co-op in Brooklyn Heights with all of the typical obstacles that involves as far as approval. He was great in accommodating that process and was also great on-site with following the house rules. Our building’s super was really impressed and had nothing but praise for Curtis. A good relationship with the super certainly makes everything go more smoothly.
Curtis’s estimate was very reasonable—much lower than other contractors we spoke with—and he helped us locate places to purchase tile and bathroom fixtures. The discount he was able to get on the tile was excellent. He was responsive to calls before the construction began and was great to work with over the two weeks. He came in on budget, on time, and did a great job in trying to keep the mess to a minimum during the construction period. I had no issue just giving him keys to the apartment & building on that first day and then leaving each day so that he and his crew could work. His is a family business and his brothers are as great to work with as he is—polite and responsive.
My partner and I were incredibly impressed from the first to last moment we worked with him. Honestly, we kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, but it never did. They are remodeling experts. kitchen and bathroom. they haven’t done any bathroom for me..but did few of my friends apartment. great craftsmanship. great skill and products. since you are in co-op .make sure whomever you hire is licensed/insured.

Call Oleg 347-583-0523. He didn’t do my bathroom but renovated most of my apartment as well as my sister’s and parent’s place. He did do a couple of bathrooms for friends of mine so feel free to call him and he can refer you to a few people to see his work so you can judge for yourself. I can show you his quality of work at my place as well, if you like. He is a perfectionist and does the work himself without just dropping off day laborers and disappearing like other contractors.
I highly recommend Errol 347 791 2884. My husband uses him for everything we do when we remodeled our coop in park slope. He is great the people that work with are excellent. He is in contact with you constantly to make sure everything is been run to your liking and is very reasonable cost wise.
