Has anyone had their brownstone facade replaced by Carlos Serna of Stones R Us?

  1. It was done by Edson for a silly high amount of money over 15 years ago. Very deteriorated full refacing (plus cornice, window and front doors all repaired, stripped and painted). When he started the job I thought I was overpaying but I was confident that he would do the job right while I went to work and didn’t have to worry about what was going on at my house. By the time he finished I thought I had gotten a bargain. Could not look better.

  2. Snowman2. Thank you for your input.

You say you have new brownstone. Was it done by someone whom you would recommend? If so, was it a large job or just one floor?

  3. No but he repaved my 35′ front garden and was supposed to paint all my railing and I would not hire him again.

    He’s a slick talker.

He was less than reliable and he kept asking me for payment ahead of our agreed upon schedule. He chipped my new brownstone. I gave him specific instructions before and during the job to use dark gray caulk for the expansion joints and he put in black tar. He did not give his men the right tools to do the job.

The last straw was one day when we agreed that he was going to complete x amount of work and at the end of the day I way going to pay him y. This was ahead of our contract agreement. Fifteen minutes after I left for work (I had a carpenter working on the interior who kept me informed), he pulled all his men off my house to go work somewhere else, they did nothing at my house but he came back for payment at the end of the day and got really angry when I refused. He never returned to finish the job.

Immediately, a lot of the edging cracked and continues to deteriorate.
