Handyman Recommendation: Brian Piersol
I’d like to recommend a handyman I used on a few recent projects around my apartment. I’d like to recommend a handyman I used on a few recent projects around my apartment. His name is Brian Piersol (piersol33@gmail.com) and I found him through another post on this forum (though I don’t personally know that other post’s author). I live in Cobble Hill and I believe he services most of Brownstone Brooklyn and Red Hook. I don’t have his phone number on hand but he responds to email very quickly.
Brian was professional and showed up on time with all of his own tools. He even had some heavy mirror cable on hand which I forgot to pickup myself! I had him cut down some hollow core doors & rehang them, hang a heavy mirror, and install a closing mechanism for my closet doors (that my landlord totally omitted). All these little projects I really needed done and had put off forever were finished in just a couple hours and I couldn’t be happier with the result.
Is he licensed and insured?
I found Brian through this site as well. I had a different experience which was not positive.
He came over to give me an estimate for hanging hardware for curtains which was a flatrate including both parts and labor. I reconfirmed the price verbally as well as by email and he agreed.
He came to do the work, completed the job and then told me the whole job would cost 30% more than what we had agreed on because parts were more expensive. Despite the fact that we communicated a few times before he came to do the work he never informed me of the increased price of materials. But I dont think it really matters because if someone gives you a flatrate for a job (which includes parts and labor) then s/he should honor it. The job he did seems fine but I cant recommend him because I dont think he is honest.
Further he had a really bad attitude and said he was “doing you a favor by doing the work in the first place”. I would never do business with him again and wouldnt recommend him to anyone else.
I can’t answer that (because I asked for an estimate based on the work amount and not by the hour) but he answers emails super fast so you could just send him an email.
What does he charge per hour (or per day)?
