Recently the bathroom sink started to drain very slowly, so I did my due diligence. I removed the p-trap and cleaned out lots of muck from the previous homeowner.
I re-installed everything and the sink drained the way it should for about a week. Now all of a sudden, it just stopped draining. There’s nothing clogging it now so I’m pretty sure it’s a venting problem.
No other drain is the house has this problem. What can I do? Any advice is appreciated.
I can tell you how to fix this problem contact me. Rick1busta@aol.com
buy BIO 1 online. it can get thru anything.
here’s the thing, I did snake it once the trap was removed. the only reason I said I thought it was a vent problem was b/c when it was clogged, the water was going down slowly. now that i cleaned it out completely, the water just fills up in the sink and it barely goes down. the only was you can tell it is going down is by coming back an hour later and the sink is empty.
i did remove and re-install the drain stopper as well. don’t know if that could be an issue.
i’m by no means a novice when it comes to home improvement but i just don’t understand what’s going on in this case.
Have you tried simply pouring some baking soda down the drain and washing it through with vinegar? If you can hear it bubbling down the line, that’s where the clog is, and if you repeat a couple of times, you might dissolve it if it’s just build-up. Otherwise, yeah, just keep feeding the snake in until you’re sure you’ve hit waste pipe. Good luck.
You can tell your vent is clogged by flushing one toilet and seeing if the water in the other toilet bowl moves when you do it.
BTW, when I did have a clogged vent the drains on that line drained fine, but smelled awful.
mtr and DIBS are correct and it’s probably not a vent problem, but vents CAN be clogged. I once had to have 100 years no crud snaked out of one of mine.
If there were a vent problem , the toilet and the other sinks wouldn’t drain properly as well.
If you had a lot of muck near the drain itself you’re bound to have a lot more still in the pipe and the cause of your current clog is probably just further down the waste line. Snake it below the trap until you’re sure you’ve reached the main waste line and see if that helps.
