We are in the process of a gut reno and replacing all windows including making 3 walls of windows on 3 floors in the back. We plan to use wood/wood in the front facade but for cost reasons are considering Geldwen wood interior vinyl clad for the back. Our architect and contractor and both encouraging us to do the wood/wood. Its a park slope rowhouse/brownstone. Any opinions?
Thank you

  1. I agree not to skimp on windows. Vinyl don’t last long and look like crap. If you can at all afford it, go with wood. Skimp on something else.

  2. Listen to your architect and contractor – that’s why you pay them. Skimping on windows is one of the worst mistakes you can make. Vinyl sucks – it warps. The bigger the window, the more important it is for you to use wood frames.

Guarantee you will regret going with vinyl within the next 5-10 years.
