Hi all –

I live in a FG landmark brownstone that was converted to a 5-unit condo. The interiors were nicely renovated but we are experiencing some problems with the roof.

Can anyone recommend an honest & highly-qualified roofer who works on brownstone buildings?

Water is entering through seams in the sealant and causing small leaks to the top floor unit. It’s possible the roof elements were improperly installed.

Recommendations from other homeowners would be especially valuable.

Roofers may also contact me, although please identify yourself as such.

Thank you!

  1. I highly recommend Mike Sapirstein at Roofmaster NYC, Inc. He was a life saver when we had major roof issues during this years blizzard and freak of nature storms.

  2. Fatos Roofers did a fantastic job on our roof. They replaced a skylight, and it so happened that the tornado hit while their temporary covering was in place. Their *temporary* work was so good it survived the tornado (which destroyed two trees in our backyard). I expect that their finished work will survive a nuclear holocaust.

  3. Big thumbs up to Nick at Leak Masters. He replaced a number of custom skylights in our brownstone and did a major preventative maintenance job and the leaks stopped. He is prompt and responsive, efficient, incredibly polite, and gave us a very good price and guarantee.

  4. We’re in a similar building nearby. Premier Roofing installed a new roof over a portion of the building and repaired a roof installed by someone else in another portion We’re pleased with their work and their responsiveness. Call Frederick on 718-638-3711.

  5. not sure if you’re looking for roofing companies or individuals but last time i had roof work done, i used Premier on Atlantic. This was a few years ago but they were great, economically priced and had good follow through. If they’re still around might be worth a shot.

  6. I promised on an earlier post to follow up once the job that Nick (from Leak Master) had done on my house. After the recent rains, some of which I swear were blowing sideways, my house, from roof to basement, is dry. It was not that way before Nick arrived, but it is now. Before Nick, I could expect leaks which ran down the inside of my house to the basement. Now I can make plans to finish my dry basement. Also, Nick returns phone calls promptly, and he gets the job done when he says he will. I have a few friends and neighbors who worked with him, and I am now passing on their recommendation and adding mine.

  7. Avoid Anthony Rocco. I used him and getting him back for a persistent leak around the roof hatch eventually met with him not returning calls, ten year warranty be damned. I finished up having to fix it myself.
