Hi.
We have old cast iron radiators in multiple rooms in our apt. We are redoing our kitchen and want to get a new slim radiator bc it will take up less room and will match the new decor. Can anyone point me in a direction where I can find them? I’ve seen these new slimmer radiators around, they’re usually unpainted(?) but I haven’t had much luck finding them now. Thanks!
I’m installing these radiators in my home, really happy with them. Even though they say there hydronic, i see no reason that wouldn’t work with steam as well.

we’re looking into the same thing…i could’ve written the same post! Been doing alot of research on this as well and since you say you have steam heat the Runtal ones (or myson) wont work as those are only hot water.
here’s something i have found for steam…whether it’ll work for you is something you’ll have to talk to your plumber about.

OP,
I’ll email you this weekend. The radiator is at my rental which I’ll drop by sometime this weekend to take a photo & measure size, etc.
Yes – it’s steam heat. That’s weird that it would affect the overall balance significantly bc we have two radiators in our living room but only one of them is on, and as far as I’m aware the building (a four unit brownstone) has been fine. I’d assume having a radiator off would affect things far more than exchanging an old one for a new slimmer radiator. Also – I was under the impression that the new slim radiators radiate just as much heat, they just are a bit slimmer?…
More4less – what is the exact size of your radiator? Can you send me a pic? I’m not home right now but I can measure ours and let you know. Do you want to continue this convo privately? I can be reached at secondguessmedia at gmail
I was assuming you have steam heat.
Look at Runtal:

I have one of those new ones in the dining room that I would be willing to exchange with you for one of your older ones.
This is usually not a great idea as having smaller radiators effects the balance of the rest of the building and often results in an oversized boiler.
That said, go to Pronto Gas Heating Supplies at 181 Chrystie St, NYC and see all the things they have or can get for you. Speaking with Paul or Jason would be best.
