Loud Tapping Pipes to Boiler
I have a gas boiler and some of the pipes are make an annoying tapping sound when the heat kicks up. The boiler is 2 years old. I think that a 20ft section of pipe in the cellar is pitched wrongly. How much money should it run me to address this issue? Thanks!

Could also be to much water in the system. Just went through this one myself and it was that simple. Turn off the boiler wait til it cools down drain out from lowest clean out…
Can’t price over the internet for fixing a back-pitched pipe, don’t know what’s involved. It’s best to call in a professional and have it priced that way.
Check my post on a thread lower down the page. It could be your risers hitting the floorboards that is making that noise.
Is it a single pipe system? If so, your condensate coming from the radiator and steam going to the radiators are using the same pipe. when the cool water hits the steam a knocking will occur. Also it could just be knocking from pipe expansion.
The system is steam.
And yes, I know the boiler is not the problem- it is barely 2 years old.
You didn’t mention if the system is steam or hot water?
It is not the boiler that is the problem, it is the heating system…sounds like a sag in one of your mains, or poor master vents…remember that a heating system needs maintenance and care…for a free consultation email me at errol832000@yahoo.com
