Bathtub Resurfacing
Has anyone had experience with resurfacing an old bathtub? Do you think it’s worth it? If so, is there someone you would recommend? Or recommend to avoid? Thanks.

I used Tony Morabito at Perma Glaze 718-251-4129 after the recommendation of a friend. Cost was $375 and has a 5 or 7 year warranty against peeling etc. It’s only been 4 months for me but so far so good. Johnny’s process and cleaning notes are correct.
I replaced some fixtures in a federal judges house many years ago in a really cool house in Westfield, N.J. The house was built in 1935. Rather than install new tubs sinks etc. they opted for resurfacing, which is basically just painting the fixtures with a tough paint. Epoxy type or the such. We installed new shower valves and faucets and it looked great. It started pealing with-in 2-3 yrs and then they gutted two bathrooms and redid them totally. I talked them into sticking with old style fixtures(new of course) and black & white tile and they really came out nice when we were done. One bath had black & white and the other was blue & white.
We had a 6 foot tub repainted. One day process 2 day drying time. It came out ok. Cost $300. Better than ripping out and replacing. Just need to be real careful how you clean it (no abrasives). We used one of the leading firms, think they are out of Coney Island. Hope this helps.
