I’m looking for advice on turning a closed/non-operating fireplace into a working fireplace. I’ve been told by non-fireplace/chimney contractors that flue for particular fireplace appears to be open. Presumably chimney has to be cleaned. Can someon offer guidance in making the conversion?

  1. Manny La Salle opened, cleaned, and lined 5 fireplaces for us, plus converted them from coal to wood. He was much more reasonable than the other estimates we got…and did a fantastic job–I would totally recommend him

  2. Line the chimney , 1500 bucks and buy some firewood. Ask the guy that lines the chimney to check the fire box, give everything a once over and then light a match and enjoy!

    Enjoy.

  3. just get a couple chimney guys recommended on the site to come out and take a look. They’ll tell you what they think needs to be done and how much it’ll cost. Hard to know without seeing the specifics.
