We need a new mattress. Anyone have recommendations of nice locally owned Brooklyn mattress store?

  1. I would like to share this bestar furniture web page to you. I enjoy reading the information on this blog. This blog is easy for everyone who need information on Bestar Furniture. If you are interested it, you can access from here : http://www.bestar-furniture.com. I found something different from this web page

  2. Scott Jordan sounds GREAT, but this is a guest bed, so not sure I want to spend $1000+.

I might be ok with the IKEA thing, since it comes with meatballs (house rules), although of course Pstreet is right, not really a local biz.

I’ve been reading a bit, and now my head is swimming with latex v. memory foam, etc.

what IKEA mattress do you recommend Grand Army?

  3. Costco. They have standard mattresses as well as memory foam. I bought a memory foam from Costco online about 5 years ago – no regrets. Online you don’t have to be a member – you’ll pay a slight upcharge over member prices.

  4. I’m with jib. IKEA. We bought our mattress from them 10 years ago and are only now considering getting a new one. Some people will say they are mass produced in China but, as far as I’m aware, they still have to comply with European consumer laws that are more stringent than in the US. Buying a mattress is like signing up for cable TV or buying a car. Expect major buyer remorse. All the chain mattress stores like Sleepy’s employ major hardsell tactics and have horrible return/exchange policies. And I hate the selection from the big US mattress manufacturers — too much cheap padding that breaks down quickly, too hot, too many petrochemicals used that off-gas for weeks/months. A more upscale alternative to IKEA is Scott Jordan on Hudson St in Manhattan. They have some nice but pricey natural latex mattresses.
