Illegal Hotel in Park Slope

What can be done about illegal brownstone conversions into hotels/inns in the neighborhood? There is one innkeeper in the name with three properties that are not registered as SRO’s with the DOB. It attracts quite a lot of transients to our normally quiet neighborhood and blocks our street every morning for airport taxis. It’s a shame these homes aren’t available for rent/sale to residents and it is hurting our quality of life. Does the city crack down on these illegal conversions or is there an agency to report this to?
why are people so up in other peoples business? this is a serious question. you cant do anything in this city anymore without someone ratting you out, snapping a picture on their cell phone, calling 311 on you, etc etc.

If running a business it needs to be licensed and follow regulation/health/safety. If trying to do this illegally than should be reported.
If can find craigslist or some other advertisement, that would help prove your suspicions.
Get other neighbors to report to 311, the community board and your councilperson.
It’s not a vacation sublet if you don’t actually live there.
Ignore Rob and call 311 if it is bothering you. Given that they are running it in three houses, I seriously doubt they do it to “survive” — they do it to make money.
And the owners can open a nice B&B legitimately, inclduing collecting whatever taxes they need to collect. There is the lovely place over in the Bed Stuy historic district and I think there used to be one in Park Slope back in the 1990’s.
I am pretty sure it was always illegal to sublet for less than thirty days but there might not be any actual penalty for doing so (setting aside the proper tax collection issues and running a business out of a residence without the right type of license), but the new law (it was signed by Gov Paterson in July) is designed to create specific penalties for operating these types of places in Class A Multiple Dwellings (the theory being that it places the actual residents at risk or annoyance, gives the city a bad name in tourism when visitors stay in places that are not up to code, and was a tool used by some landlords to avoid rent stabilization laws).
Could you be more specific about the location? Maybe provide a link?
I have some family coming to town and they need a place to stay.
I’m against the previously mentioned legislation trying to stop short term rentals. Felt the need to say that.
it’s a bed and breakfast. mind your own business, some people do this to survive. be happy that people “transplants” actually want to visit your little utopia known as park slope. i am sure they are spending money at local businesses.. sorry i dont mean to sound harsh, but there are bed and breakfast type places in all nice neighborhoods all around the world.

I’m so glad I don’t live in Park Slope
should be value added to the nabe to have b&b’s that are bringing tourists in. anyone that wants a suburban feel should go to westchester or long island. also the extra foot traffic probably adds to safety of your block.
