Hello everybodeeeeee! It’s about that time again! The Brownstoners will be throwing a swinging holiday party on December 9th, so save the date in your calendars! We haven’t firmed up the location just yet, so stay tuned for more information.

Remember last year when we exchanged silly dollar store gifts? Well, we’re doing it again…HOORAY! Get back to the dollar store and find one ridiculous item, wrap it or put it in a small gift bag and bring it to the party for the 2nd Annual Brownstoner Readers’ Goofy Gift Grab-bag. Please don’t spend more than a dollar on the gift (excluding tax of course).

Also, on a more serious note, the holiday season is known as a time of giving. For all the hardships we experience, we must remember that there are plenty of people in our own community who struggle in a way we may not be able to comprehend. It’s time to give back to the community that we love so much. This year, CobbleSnaps Productions asks that each party attendee bring a gift to donate to the Red Hook Community Center holiday toy drive. We need toys for young kids all the way up to teenagers. We also need donations of new blankets for the seniors. PLEASE DO NOT WRAP THE GIFTS! Leave them in their original packaging, but no wrapping. If you wish to put it in a gift bag that’s fine. Please find it in your hearts (and wallets!) to give a gift to those in need this season. We will gather up all the gifts and take them to the Red Hook Community Center and make the donation in the name of Brownstoner.com and the Brownstoner.com readers.

We look forward to seeing familiar faces and new posters. We also look forward to getting a great stash of gifts to donate to the RHCC. Come join in the fun!

  1. “Did I miss the end of the world????”

No, world didn’t end this year, at least not on this blog (maybe someplace else??). Just in 2008 and 2009, here.

  2. Was that already a year ago that Pete and I met and went to the Dollar Store together in midtown? And that I baked brownies for m4l (to settle a bet that I still don’t recall losing)? That was a fast year.
