Can someone recommend a paint color for a long corridor?

  1. oh and what’s the style of the building and what part of the building is the corridor in? I think it’s best to acknowledge the style of the space itself in order to make the decorating choice feel like it fits, rather than being jarring. Early 20th century basement corridor would get a different treatment than a Victorian receiving hall or mid 20th century apartment building.

  2. what are you hoping to accomplish or overcome with the hallway? durability? general appeal? warmth? clean/well maintained? look shorter/taller/wider? what colors do you like?

  3. wallpaper can look really cool in a hallway but a big commitment…otherwise I’d go for a khaki and put up lots of pictures and mirrors

  4. Also consider some greys, like BM Lily White (light blue grey), or a slightly darker, more sophisticated BM Elephant Grey. They’re a good neutral, yet not boring choice.

  5. I lean towards greens, personally, and in Benjamin Moore paints there’s a color called Lewiville (Lewisville?) green, #494 that I think looks great with wood trims. I also like yellows but make sure to get some samples to try a big patch to make sure it looks okay in the lighting you have.

  6. Yes. Do not paint it cream or white. Too boring. What color is the woodwork, what age is the building, any particular features in the hall?

  7. Hi Miami,

I used Restoration Hardware’s SLATE PAINT COLLECTION – Stone – color for my hallway. If you are looking for a brighter color then take a look at their BUTTER PAINT COLLECTION. I walked into a Restoration Hardware store last year and discovered that they had a beautiful selection of colors. Go to the Restoration Hardware site and navigate to the Home section then Hardware then Paint (Restoration Hardware»Home»Hardware»Paint).
