I just submitted this question on Kohler.com. Does anyone know where else I might find an answer? I have a Kohler thermostatic valve in my shower. I’m not sure of the model, but it is about 7 years old. From the lowest temperature setting to the highest, the water is very hot. When the dial is on lowest temperature setting, there is resistance in the rotation, but I can force the knob to turn further and eventually get cold water. In order to get cold water I need to turn the temperature dial two complete rotations, twice past all the temperature labels on the dial. Should the knob turn two rotations to get cold water? Is the mixer cartridge getting worn out? Do I need to repair or replace it?
I don’t have the model number. Thanks for the advice. I’ll see if I can figure out the model number and see about replacing the cartridge.
You need to replace the thermostatic cartridge inside the valve. Do you know the model number of the faucet?
