I have to order about 80 sheets of drywall. Is it all the same? Home Depot better/worse than my local lumber yard? Their prices are about the same.
This is just regular non-kitchen/bath walls. I prefer the stuff that isn’t toxic.

  1. Just make sure it wasn’t manufactured in China. Because of the high sulfur content, fumes emitted by Chinese drywall destroys pipes and wiring and seems to cause health problems for those residing in the home.

  2. Mopar, can I contact you for a reference on Irving Maldonado? I may need him for things other than drywalling. jenabrams at mindspring.com

  3. Do you need additional help? Irving Maldonado is available, is extremely precise, experienced, and fast with drywall, and is pretty darn inexpensive, usually about $20 an hour depending. Not sure what you can work out. He lives in Bushwick and his number is 718-678-4986. He did a beautiful job on several ceilings and a mudroom.

  4. Hang in there Ringo. Someday you will have a beautiful house, and all this will be a long time ago.

Don’t be afraid to ask for a discount from whoever you order from. I’ve had good experiences with Kamco, Dykes and Marjam.

  5. yes, it’s a whole house. so a lot. I need to get it all up in a week too. working with two guys who know what they’re doing which is good since I don’t. but I’m hoping I can knock this out. so tired of renovation.

  6. 80? 2560 square feet?

I’d suggest a lumberyard. A professional yard is dedicated to selling and delivering construction goods. Try Dyke’s, Kamco or Marjan.

    Also delivery is curbside.

  7. It comes in different thicknesses as well. HD drywall is perfectly fine. Just make sure they don’t sell you a lot of damaged corners.
