Anyone have any suggestions as to where we can buy ourselves a new boxspring and not risk infesting the apartment with bedbugs? I’ve heard places like Sleepy’s and 1800 mattress recycle used mattresses (30 day sleep guarantee), as well as ship new mattresses and pick up old ones in the same truck… how do I know I am getting a clean product? I know I’m obsessing, but the thought of getting bb is just a nightmare… any suggestions would be really appreciated.

  1. Sorry. If you’re really that nervous cut a small slit in the sealed box spring bag and put in a no pest strip. Then seal the slit air tight with duct tape. Leave it for 4 weeks. That will kill off anything in there. When you are done air out the mattress for a couple of hours.

  2. Seal the box spring and its protective plastic cover in a huge plastic bag for a year. Then heat it to 150 for a few hours. Then freeze it. Then spray it with chemicals.

    That’ll do it.

  3. new mattresses come in plastic wrap. bb cannot go though the plastic wrap. If you so paranoid and think that bb can get inside on the plastic wrap – take it off right in front of the house and put it into the dust bin.
