Looking for a recommendation for a lawyer for our small self managed coop. The lawyer we have now is Manhattan-based and a bit too high powered for our building’s budget–he charges us exorbitantly for even a 10 minute phone call, so as a result we avoid speaking to him unless absolutely necessary.

If any of you know of a lawyer in the neighborhood who isn’t running his meter all the time, a recommendation would be appreciated.

  1. I’ll second wrecks description of Zerline. If you didn’t know she was an attorney you’d never guess. Very pleasant. She was “on the other side” at a closing but I was very impressed. However I have no idea what her experience is with acting as a co-op’s attorney.

  2. William Gillen – 718-491-3505

He handled a particularly hard closing for me and was very knowledgeable. His prices were very fair too

  3. Ed Fusco is wonderful – he’s been the lawyer for our 8 unit coop for 15+ years – he’s smart and organized, yet low key and pleasant. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

  4. WonTon,

Try Lenny. He did my closing and few of my friends and family’s closings and I know he does represent quiet a few co-ops in Brooklyn. At some point in the past, he did some legal work for my co-op as well. You can tell him that I sent you (if you remember my off blog name that is).
