  1. Then you probably have spring tension rods which just give out over time. I replaced some for a friend of mine a few years ago and the first ones were a real pain in the neck, but got significantly easier as I went along. I wouldn’t recomend it if you’re not handy though. I think she bought the rods from Park Slope Glass and if memory serves, they were around $20 apiece, based on length. They had quoted her around $75 per window labor only. It took me almost an hour to finish the first one while I was figuring it out, about 15 minutes by the last one, so the quote wasn’t terrible, but not great. It was a frustrating process though.
There is also a product called a sash tension spring, which just slips in between the sash and the frame and creates enough of a friction fit that the window stays in place, they cost two or three dollars each. I’ve never used them, so I don’t know how well they work, but it might be worth looking into. It’s a quick easy fix if it works, if not, you’re out $6.

  2. Byron has repaired old and installed new windows for me. Windows is all he does. Haven’t needed any repairs for a while but I believe he’s still around 917-559-6502
