Water pump in the basement
Anyone who have changed water pump in the basement? Our pump seems broken and leaking as per a plumber. The plumber says $800 to replace a pump. How do you think about this price and any opinion from your experience? Thank you

If it’s just a sewer/drain that collects water then you only need a sump pump, which is cheap. The ejector pumps are only necessary for the “solids” that are associated with a bathroom.
Does it have a ball type appendage that will rise with the level of water?? That would be a sump pump. However, newer, more pawerful (more than 1/2 HP ones) have internal balls.
I think it’s ejector pump that bring water up to sewer. Sewer is located higher than water drain in the baseroom. Thank you, I will check the pump out.
What gemini said. If it’s an ejector pump for a bathroom, it will cost more. if that’s the case, go online or to Lowe’s and see what they cost and figure another $300-400 for labor.
do you mean a sump pump to remove water that is on the basement floor(let’s say from this hard rain we just had) and take that water and remove it through a pipe/hose that drains outside or to the main pipe that goes to the sewer?
If so – yes $800 is RIDICOUSLY high – sum pumps cost about $100 at Lowes and you can replace it your self
do you mean the sump pump?
