Community Bank Recommendations
I am looking to refinance my mortgage with a smaller community bank. Or at least with a bank slightly less evil than my current lender Wells Fargo. Does anyone have any experience with Brooklyn Federal Savings? Any other relevant advice is welcome. Thanks.

Sorry, posted second comment in wrong thread.
Bushwick Cooperative Federal Credit Union Bank on Myrtle. I believe they may also have a branch in Bed Stuy, not sure.
Rather impractical if you don’t live there. But call them up anyway and ask. They probably know a place near you.
Also I do believe they let you use anyone’s ATM without charge — but I believe the other bank will charge you, no?
But they are certainly ethical.
Bushwick Cooperative Federal Credit Union Bank is very much on the up and up. They sound like they cost more than other options, but not really, since there are fewer hidden charges and they will match other quotes. They are very fast.
They have fairly conservative lending rules, so they like to see fairly traditional down payments and situations, but you will also be dealing with the two or three people in charge of lending directly, so with permission from the board they can adapt to your situation.
We got very far in the process with them but ultimately decided to go with a different lender. In retrospect, kinda wish we had gone with BCFCUB. There is an office on Myrtle somewhere around Greene Ave. or so, and I believe there is another in Bed Stuy. There may be others, not sure.
