The roof of our small flat detached garage needs to be completely gutted. I would say most of the joists also need to be replaced. Does anyone have any roofers they would recommend for a job this size?

In addition, I am at a loss to where to find replacement roof tiles to match the existing. The front has these rectangular ones (top of pic) and the parapet covers (bottom of pic) also has these special pieces. Some of my neighbors have gone to asphalt singles but I rather avoid that if I can.

  1. thanks for the help with the camelback tiles, guys. do you know if roofers generally do joist replacements too? or should I be looking to a GC for that?

  2. I believe the coping shown in the bottom photo is called Camelback. Upper photo shows Shingle, combined with Barrel or Streamline across the ridgeline. You might be able to find these at Glenwood Mason: http://bit.ly/awCWfT
I have no personal experience with any of the following three, but a neighbor was very happy with extensive repairs to their terra cotta roof tile done by Brian Goe at Commercial Construction: http://bit.ly/9AiABa
Additional sources for standard and custom terra cotta tile (not local):

  3. I’m blanking on the name of those tiles, but any decent roofing supply place will have them. If nobody on the forum posts the name just take your photo to a roofing place along with how many linear feet you need.

  4. Hello I know of a reasonable local roofing contractor his name is Dan he can be reach at 718 485-1044 and he is licensed try him out Good Luck.
