How Do I get Security System Without Telephone Line?

Sorry for the second question.
I would like to get a security system for my weekend house. The town offers an ADT-like system for a reasonable annual amount and my insurance is lowered and maybe my house won’t burn down! Win-win-win.
It’s a system very similar to ADT. But how do you do this if you don’t have a telephone line. Is it possible?
I imagine it isn’t. The town says their system uses telephone lines. Is there a security system that doesn’t use phone lines?
It’s been so over a decade since I had a telephone land line. In fact, I googled around looking for a local telephone company to get rates, and I couldn’t find one. I am assuming telephone companies still exist.
After the 2003 blackout, I am a huge fan of keeping/getting a landline.
Thanks all.
Yeah, the town offers a service that goes directly to cop/volunteer fire department dispatch. It’s only $75 a year so a bargain, but requires a landline (or so they say — maybe I need to call everyone three times to get straight info?). And maybe a landline for emergency situations isn’t a terrible idea in an area that loses power a lot.
But sounds like I have a lot of options without a landline. Thanks all.
Check out reviews on Frontpoint. I have the entire alarm integrated and fully controllable from my blackberry. There is an iphone app as well. Everything is customizable via their site. You can set up email alerts for every action. The main box is a GE Simon XT. I think we paid $300 or so for the entire system with a 3 yr $30 a month contract. We have window sensors, glass break sensors, motion detectors for indoor and outdoor/remote control and then some. The outdoor motion detector doesnt set off the alarm. It simply beeps if it goes off. We keep it in the back yard. Im really impressed and thankful my wife did all the research that she did.
We recently got a security system from Alarms R Us in Brooklyn. It is wireless and uses its own internal cell phone. We didn’t have to provide any kind of phone line. Installation costs were very reasonable, as are monthly fees, and they were a delight to deal with. Owner is named Bob, number is 718-996-6900.
ADT is both costly and lousy when it comes to security. You mentioned the town has an ADT-like system. Is it different from ADT? Does it tie directly into town fire dept. or volunteer fire dept.? If not, you might want to check with them whether they offer a similar service. Verizon, etc., continues to provide low-cost, minimal use/emergency use landline contracts. Good to have in areas where cell service is spotty, or subject to frequent power outages.
Thanks so much, both of you. I called ADT again, and yes, they can do it. But eh. They don’t put their best foot forward over the phone. I’ll try Frontpoint. Never heard of them.
Get Frontpoint! They are the best out there. We use them. They work via GSM. Inexpensive do-it-yourself system. Call me if you have specific questions 347 276 6528. My wife did tons of research and frontpoint security got the best reviews hands down. Totally wireless and totally easy to use.
ADT has a cell line you can order.
