Question for y’all.

Apparently, “maintstream” banks like CHASE do not offer HELOCs/loan-packages for properties “above” 2-family in Kings County…

… which puts me in the position of seeking “alternative” lenders who will.

My credit it solid. Mortgage payment history is solid. I’m at about 45% available-equity and really would only like some ready-credit to replace the aging windows in my home.

Anyone have any recent experience or recommendations?

Much appreciated.

Comments

  1. Steve Hartstein at First Meridian on 7th avenue in Park Slope did miracles for us in getting a specialized loan. HIGHLY recommended. Mention Sarah and Alex, so he knows we still appreciate him.

  2. I am surprised about the HELOC issue with a 3 or 4 family. Maybe Citi and Chase have changed policies recently, but I initially had a HELOC with Chase on my 3-family, and then refi’d in ’08 with Citi for a 3-family.

  3. Check with NHS of East Flatbush. They give low-interest emergency loans and can also put you in touch with another non-profit organization that will loan you money for new windows and other energy-saving repairs at 1 percent interest.
