Small Amount of Debris
I’ve got about three contractor bags full of sheet rock debris from some work. It’s not enough to get a container, but too much to put out on the curb. I’d love to just drive it over somewhere and dump it, but the city dumps apparently don’t allow drive up anymore. Anyone know a place…

I’d love to just drive it over somewhere and dump it, but the city dumps apparently don’t allow drive up anymore.
Anyone know a place where I can pay by the pound or bag, to drop off debris?
No jokes about driving around and looking for dumpsters please.
Put it on the curb. I do it all the time, tips help.
Regulations state up to 6 bags at one time on the bulk pick up day which varies by neighborhood, and the work has to have been done by the homeowner (not that they’ll know one way or the other). As Dave points out, if they are too heavy, they’ll either leave them, or drag them, splitting the bags, and then they leave the mess. I don’t know of any places in Brooklyn that lets you pay by the pound to dump, but if there is, I’d love to know about it. The city used to let you dump over by Nellie Bly Park, but that’s been closed for years.
It depends on where you live as to what day. For me it’s friday which is the same as the recycling day. I think there’s a limit of 5 or 6 bags at once.
And they can’t be overly heavy.
Divide the three bags into smaller more manageable payloads and put out 2 or 3 at a time. In a week or two you’re done. Break large bulkier pieces inside the bags into smaller bits. The sanitation guys don’t like to see anything protruding through the bag sharp or not.
Otherwise you can try waiting out there for the truck to roll up and greet them with a twenty.
Put it out on your non-recycling pick-up day.
Dept of Sanitation says you can put out DIY project debris:

I’d say put out 5 bags of it on the next trash day and see what happens. Make sure the bags are lift-able.
Unless these are too heavy to lift, I’m not sure you can’t put these out in the regular trash. Small amounts of demo/reno debris in contractor bags are ok. Try putting one bag out next trash day and see what happens.
