Hi, I need an estimate as to how much it will cost to level out a floor that is sloping, thanks to the landlord taking out a structural beam years ago. It’s been deemed safe, and I want the floor to be level and liveable.

Any suggestions appreciated!

  1. Thank you all for your notes. IMBY, it’s a lonnnnnggg story. I’m trying to work it out with the landlord so that things move faster. He’s in denial that there’s a problem with having a sloping floor (since it’s been that way for so long), but I don’t think it’s gonna work for a baby living there.

  3. My understanding is you can only build a flat floor on top. You can’t actually level out the existing floor. I think a new floor in an average size room is $2,000 to $4,000 or so.

  4. You should verify that any movement of the building has been arrested, and that no future settling will occur. It would be shame if you had to relevel your leveled floors….
