We will be installing a ductless for a large, open loft space (about 1000 square feet) and, all things being equal, would prefer to go with a more stylish unit. But, if this involves a sacrifice on quality, we’ll go with the ugly stuff. Does anyone have any experience with these LG units? The air comes out of the sides through a small opening in the front.

Thanks!

  1. I installed LG Art Cool units throughout my apartment in Kiev nearly four years ago. They have been used year round for both heating and cooling and work perfectly. Only the appearance is different. They perform as well as any traditional type ductless unit.

In general I wouldn’t call ductless units ugly. Yes; some are nicer than others. However all are much better in every way than any window or wall garbage available today.

  2. My HVAC guy installed a couple and likes them so much he’s going to put them in his own house. We just installed a couple regular LG mini-splits on a job and they’re performing well. Obviously we don’t know how the art cools will hold up long term as they just came on the market recently but in general I think the technology is a good fit for old houses in our climate. Control cooling in the room you’re in and there’s no ductwork to leak air and build up dust.
