Centipedes in Basement
Help! We have a lot of centipedes in our basement, which we use as living space. Anyone know how to kill the little suckers?

They will eat any insect smaller than themselves, but I particularly like the fact that they eat fleas and bedbugs. I never kill a house centipede.
house centipedes eat cockroaches. learn to love them.
These are very common in brownstone homes. They usually live or lay eggs in the humid basements. Techniques for eliminating centipedes from homes include drying up the areas where they thrive, sealing cracks in the walls, and seeking the assistance of an exterminator. I call in an exterminator the second one of my tenants calls me that they’ve spotted one. That usually takes care of them until the following year. Make sure the exterminator does the majority of the spraying in the basement or humid areas of the house.
You can find more info on these insects here:

FYI, they eat other bugs and are harmless to humans.
