Can You Paint Your Home Any Color?
I live across from a private school that has 5-6 foot concrete and wrought iron walls/fences. Recently they painted the walls off-white and I was thrilled. Then yesterday I see they started a multi-colored, various themed mural. It looks like a carnival and very out-of-place with neighborhood. Is this at all regulated by city?

The color of hydrangea flowers is dependent upon the pH of the soil in most varieties: neutral = white, acidic = blue, alkalie = pink to purple. Some adventurous gardeners use soil additives around the drip line to get all colors on the same bush.
Hydrangeas can be pink or white (snowballs) too.
is it one of those murals that have hoodrat children painted on it with ridiculous, often misspelled, inspirational sayings that seem to be all over the city? i like those.
*rob*
Really?…I mean it. Really? This is a real question in NYC? Wow. You should sell now before the neighborhood goes to pits. *Note to self, never live across the street from a school.*
I honestly HATE hydrangeas… if there was an ordinance that listed them as a noxious weed that had to be eradicated from NYC, I’d vote for it!
tybur6, hydrangeas must be blue. Everyone knows that.
ARE YOU SERIOUS! A mural in a schoolyard?! Jaysus. You probably should move quick before one of your neighbors buys the wrong color hydrangea bush.
This has got to be a joke… please say it is.
except in a land marked area, out door painting without scaffolding needs no permit. A sign does require a permit but a wall normally can be painted anything they want as long as it isn’t commercial. Art is art and free speech does extend to painting a wall.
design criteria in a planned urban development can extend to what color the mail box has to be. Thank goodness it doesn’t apply here
Unless you live opposite the putrid monstrosity on Garfield, I say don’t complain 😉
