Hello all
So I have been back in the rental jungle for the past 3 weeks. I am trying to do it without a realtor. So have been relying mainly on Craiglist and footwork to find a sunny, spacious, petfriendly and well maintained 1 BR apartment for about $1200-1300. I have been looking in Prospect Heights, Crown Heights and Prospect Lefferts Gardens. So far I have been appalled by the no fee brokers on CL not showing up to their appointments, and being 30 minutes late etc. I have seen few by owner listing even in the by owner sections of CL. So how to find owners that are looking for good tenants? Any apartment hunting advice for me? Is there a list of Brooklyn management companies so I can really deal directly with owners? Any and all advice appreciated.
well i’m a broker and I have a spacious, well maintained and sunny 1 bedroom in Crown Heights that is $1250 on Montgomery Street and Rogers. The building is religiously cleaned every day by the super. She has lived on the 1st floor for 15 years and views the upkeep of the building as a reflection on her self.
You will have to pay a fee as I don’t rent no fee listings unless I’m doing a favor for the landlord.
I was 20 minutes late today to an appointment…and felt really bad about it ;). Traffic killed me on Atlantic.

Classic, I thought you were trying to do it without a “Realtor” or are you simply trying to avoid a fee?
Unfortunately CL has been infiltrated by agents from a certain company that starts with an R. who pretend to be “property managers” so they can post their ads in the “by owner” section because they’re too broke to pay for ads in the “broker” section. Just be prepared to do a lot of leg work.
Just keep slogging through CL. I list there & know others who are meticulous about keeping appt.s & informing you about rental status.
Try http://www.jumppost.com, they were excellent to work with and I didn’t have to deal with brokers.
Good Luck,
