Because of existing plumbing running behind a closet that couldn’t be relocated, we have ended up with one bedroom closet that is only about 10 1/2-11″ deep. Not long ago, there was a thread on here about shallow closet solutions, including one about Ikea. I cannot for the life of me find that post. Can anyone lead me to it…or offer any other solutions you have used? Thanks in advance.

  1. Another option is simply to install shelves (assuming you can’t open it up as mopar suggests) and then use it for clothing that can be folded and stacked.

  2. Is the plumbing running along one side plus the bottom of the closet in an L shape? We have this in one of our closets. The original solution was cover the pipes with stained wooden boards, making a sort of seat or shelf in the bottom of the closet and a chase on the left. So part of the back of the closet is normal depth, and clothes can hang there.
