of course after the massive reno and redoing all the trim and painstakingly oil painting the trim the sash broke. It is a crappy window from homedepot can I get it fixed? I really don’t think its worth it. Or can I replace the window from the out side? It is on the ground level. Any ideas?

  1. Bat Ridge Window seems very nice not sure how their prices compare but they quoted us $250 a window for vinyl and $1000 each for wood with weights.

We got a bid only so no insight into how their work.

    good luck

  2. A good installer should be able to do it with minimal disruption. If the original is all wonky you are probably better off spending the money and going with a full brick to brick installation vs. a replacement window. The replacement window will only be as stable as the existing frame its mounted on top of.

  3. Who knows what the previous owner bought. Also it was not installed correctly: It’s crooked; it does not really fit the open, too small……….. and we could go on & on. We have Pela in the new parts just that one room was not scheduled for new windows. So I take it if I get more Pela windows they will install with out damaging the new trim?

  4. What did you buy at Home Depot? What brand. Marvin, Andersen, Pella. I put Andersen in my house and do not have a problem with any of them. Did you buy vinyl?

  5. Replace with a replacement window from a quality company. A replacement leaves the frame and trim intact.
