Anyone know what horror has befallen my garden? Everything was thriving until a few days ago when suddenly it looked like someone had poured battery acid on this plant. (I don’t know what kind of plant it is, I’ve never watered it, and it’s in full sun.) Now, two days later, a third of the plants in the garden have it, including a hydrangea and a new rose. What should I do?

  1. I get this early in the season, especially on my fruit tree leaves and sometimes the roses. I think it`s called “rust spot” and I have used an all purpose fungacide that comes in a spray bottle. Any good hardware store sells this. But eventually, my plants pull through regardless. I think it`s the sudden humid weather that allows for some fungal plant diseases. I also have that hole- punch leaf thing on and off on one of my roses. I think it`s an insect-not sure.

  2. You could also take a sample to Joe at Kings County Nursery. He was able to diagnose my euonymus scale and gave me the medicine to cure it.

  3. who is this person telling you to raid my garden??

That does look like what a herbicide does. just ask your neighbor if they sprayed

  4. Looks like something is eating the plant, large bites out of the leaves. Looks also like some kind of rust is attacking the leaves. You might try seeing if there’s anything on Dave’s Garden that will help.
