we have hedge shears but they do not work on the grass. is there a $20 tool someone knows the name of that can do this job?
We’ve relied on a battery-powered (rechargeable) weed-whacker for years. It’s very small but effective. Toro makes them, and the spool of fishing line that cuts the grass is replaceable. I’ve named it “Bunny.”
Wait, where did you get that photo of my grandpa? He always cut the lawn with his pocket scissors. Perfect surface for teaching us kids to putt against jelly jars.
thanks overhead! its sarah_11215(at)yahoo(dot)com. Glad to return it when we are done with it if you’d like, or can pass along to next grass cutter.
Meme I like the idea of killing it, but we’re not ready yet… when the time comes this sounds like a good plan.
thanks all
I have a push (non motorized) mower that came with the house I don’t use. Not sure how sharp the blades are, but you’re welcome to take it. Post your email if you want it, and I’ll email you…
I recommend a rabbit or sheep
Look on Craig’s list for a used push (non-motorized) mower.
Buy a weed-whacker. I have a very small yard and I use it to mow my grass. You can generally buy one for about $20.
if you ultimately want not have a lawn the best solution is get rid of the lawn now
Take newspapers 3-4 layers lay down (over lapping). Then take bags of mulch spread them over the paper. In the fall, simply turn over the soil . The newspaper and mulch will act as compos and feel you hungry soil . During the summer the mulch especially if its cedar will keep away mosquitoes. Other op is to see if home depot rents garden tools.
