Fire Escape Painting
Can anyone recommend a reliable painter for fire escape on a three-story building? Any idea how much this should cost – only a minimal amount of scraping should be required. Finally, what kind of paint should I use? Thanks for any advice.

If you are looking for a good deal I would go with Mr.Patrick. He has worked with me numerous times and is affordable compared to all the companies I have thus far dealt with. His projects range from small to large and he has a large paint selection as well. You can reach him at 1646-945-7315.
Thanks, everyone, for all the great advice.
$1-2K depending on how wide it is .. it also depends if your building requires any insurance. $1-2k would be fine i guess. but i would like to recommend my contractor Ekram. he gives the best deal . call him and find out at-718-666-7679.
I would have them use a rust inhibiting primer after scraping. I’ve always used rustoleum rusty metal primer followed by the rustoleum enamel. The Ben Moore enamel someone mentions above is just as good. Also, Janovic and Ox-line make a Urethanized paint which I think goes on nice and holds up very well. Sometimes hard to find the Ox-line these days as they are owned by someone else now.
Also, Rustoleum now has a “rust reformer”. i have only recently used it for the first time and I liked the way it worked the rust into a paintable surface. A bit pricey; it will be a few years before we see if it is worth its salt.
Preparing the surface is more important than the final coat in a situation such as this-

we just used transcend to do this and are very happy. they did back wall cement and paint so not sure how much for fire escape alone.
I think for DIY you want a rust-proof paint, which is what transcend told us to use… in fact they told us once they’d done their treatment we should just touch it up ourselves each year.
you might want to hire help if there’s a lot of rust since they can scrape it off and get the metal back in shape.
if things look good I’d think $100 at home depot and you can DIY.
I’m guessing you could get it done for about $1-2K depending on how wide it is and how good a job they’ll do.
I was looking in to fire escape painting and a well recommended roofing & waterproofing contractor gave me a bid (not cheap) specifying a coat of primer followed by 2 coats of Benjamin Moore IronClad Alkyd Low Luster Metal and Wood enamel c160 paint.
Another contractor doing a neighboring building looked like he got day laborers to do it, and it didn’t look like they did a very good job so I wouldn’t recommend him to do it.
