I had a great experience recently at New York Old Iron (next to Lowes, under the F). Roy Vaccaro helped me find a wood newell post to match an existing one in my house. I had been looking for a while but never tried NYOI because I assumed they dealt in metal only. I gotta say, Roy knows his stuff and has priced it fairly. His yard is a treasure trove of architectural elements beyond simply ironwork.
