Weatherproofig a Table
I’m renovating my backyard and just purchased a farm table made of reclaimed pine that I would like to use outside. Will this type of table hold up outside? Are there any steps I should go through to weatherproof it?

The spar varnish recommended above would take many coats (more than the 8-10 recommended for a hardwood like teak), and require fairly laborious annual maintenance. Most epoxy resins are very strong finishes, but not UV stable; you’d need to find one that is, or cover it with a few coats of varnish or poly to protect the epoxy. Also, be sure to select an epoxy that will cure clear, and not blush- or haze.
Pine isn’t the best wood to withstand weather. That said, a good spar varnish or a clear epoxy will keep it from deteriorating. You’d probably have to recoat it every year with the spar varnish.
