I’m trying to find a reputable TV repair place near Bay Ridge, but finding it hard to sort out the shady places from the reliable. Everything on Yelp, Citysearch, etc seems to be rated around 1 – 2.5 stars and I’ve had a few of those places turn me down because Bay Ridge is too far for in home service.

I’ve got a 42″ LCD TV in dire need of repairs before the extended warranty expires in two weeks. Any recommendations?

  1. I just called again; the standards are that it be a ‘reputable’ repair shop. I asked for clarification on what exactly made them ‘reputable’ and was told that they should provide an itemized estimate on official company letterhead. There’s no requirement that they be an official (authorized by the manufacturer) service provider.

  2. Apparently not… I think it’s a lot like how they deal with credit card fraud; their profits dwarf whatever amount does happen, so they just eat the cost because it would cost them more to deal with it.

    From the Warranty Claim Form:
    – Itemized repair estimate from a service provider such as the manufacturer, retailer, or repair shop
