  1. I moved my electrical panel about 10 feet, and it wasn’t that expensive. I want to say something like $2,000-$3,000, but we were getting some other electrical work done at the time.

  2. Every wire run is somewhat unique and usually there is not much slack left in the wires that terminate inside a panel to move it and every wire run. However the wires also terminate inside each junction (light fixture, switch, receptacle) so the electrician needs to find the junctions closest to the panel and pull new wires to the new panel location. Some minor demo – holes in the walls ceiling – is required.

If you tell me how many circuits you have and the total amperage (add it off the face of the circuits) I can call the electrician I work with to see if he can give me a price over the phone. That’s usually what he does for small jobs.

  3. I’m thinking of doing something quite similar in my place because the panel’s on this skinny wall built to mask the side of the refrigetator in a space with an 11″ -3″ ceiling. I have yet to price it out but think it’s doable because the other apartments in the building have different layouts and panel configurations. If it were in, say, a mid or lower floor in 10 story apartment building I think it’d be more challenging and expensive because the feeds to all apartments above are likely to be in the wall around the panel. I’d love to hear what others think about pricing.
