Does anyone have a recommendation for what might be happening in my bathroom? My toilet keeps filling up with hot water while my shower is cold. It didn’t start out this way after the renovation was finished but it’s been pretty persistent. Any advice or has anyone else experience this issue? If I have to get the pipes readjusted, how invasive will it be to do so?

  1. Master Plvmber is right. We had this and managed to catch it while plumber still on the job. Your lines are reversed. Your toilet is getting the hot feed and the hot water taps are getting the cold.

MP — As you know, it wasn’t you in my case.

  2. going out on a limb, I’d say call a plumber? If you did a renovation, call the guys that did the work.

A google search got this …
bad flapper in the toilet tank or a bad fill valve…can allow the water to seep into the tank. when you have a mixing valve on your toilet to prevent condensation, some hot water is introduced into the cold water line to warm the water just a little, but when the water just seeps a little at a time the hot water dominates the cold and you get a tank of hot water.
