Following some of the great advices posted on this forum, we just hired Heimer to perform a home inspection for a 2-family limestone in Crown Heights.

The inspector showed up on time, and did a superb job. He was upfront in asking that I save my questions for the end. This way he could concentrate on the task at hand. That was fine by me as I operate the same way.

The inspection took about 1-hour as the house is currently occupied. He made a verbal summary of his findings once done, and I was able to ask as many questions as I wanted.

The written report came first over email a couple of days later in a PDF format. We then got 2 hard copies over by mail.

The report is thorough, clear, and full of points to remember. At 101 pages, and featuring valuable content, it is really worth the $535 I paid.

There are about 30 findings clearly described, and a breakdown of costs organized by priorities.

I would certainly use Heimer again and highly recommend them.

  1. I call bs.

“and did a superb job. He was upfront in asking that I save my questions for the end”…which is a stupid way to operate…how many people have the memory to remember questions for later, or the organization to write them down? If a doctor suggested this, I’d move on. Same for inspectors, who’re not exactly doing brain surgery.

And…101 pages from 1 obstructed hour of examination!! Methinks that inspector reporteth too much!

I would avoid Heimer like the plague.
