My husband and I just bought a condo in Boerum Hill. We purchased from the owner a monster TV (at least it seems that way to us) and a whole lot of equipment and speakers and such. He had Apple TV which we do not and we would love to be able to listen to the radio (which we know exists but can’t figure out how to make work) and basically understand how to do simple things – like watch TV or a DVD. Does anyone know a good home theater person who can not only set up the system for the way we live but most importantly teach us how to actually use it? Any help would be appreciated.
Well if you need anymore help, I live in Carroll Gardens so I could always take a look.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will post again tomorrow night with the makes and model numbers of all the equipment. I think NYGuy7 is right, since he never used the receiver as a tuner but I do have the antenna. Denton, can you send me your e-mail? Thanks
OP, drop me an email, maybe I could help. I second BFAG on the Logitech but the whole thing has to get wired up correctly first.
So what happens when you change the receiver to the tuner, does no sound come out? Is it possible that he never plugged in the antenna?
Step one, buy a Logitech Harmony One remote control. This is the greatest universal remote on the market and will make your life vastly simpler. This is coming from someone who has installed high end home theaters for a living including Crestron systems that cost 10s of thousands. If you want to send me some photos or model #s of your gear and can point you in the right direction.
Not to say Geek Squad isn’t a good idea–a lot less legwork, and I’m sure they’ve got people who know how to teach you how to do this very well. Sorry, realized this sounded really rude–just wanted to give another option, not to slam on a very good option.
My parents had a kid from the local high school come in and teach them how to use their computer. If you know your neighbors and any of them have a teenage kid, I’m sure he’d do it for a sum much more reasonable than the geek squad.
Geek Squad, seriously.
